NEK Ed.
35 miles from Quebec.
Grouse never left - just suffer typical highs and lows, highs being every 7 - 10 years. Low years are about 6 or 7 birds in a three hour hunt. we're back up into the high years again this year, just like last year.

Thanks for the 'well wishes'.
I rue the day I am too 'old and tired and soft hearted' to hunt anymore... Please God take me before then.

That bodes well for my coming Maine moose hunt in Zone 2, hope to bag the moose early then chase birds. NEK Ed.

Lots of ruffed grouse (& others) have fallen to the 12. If I ever find a decent 2-inch gun before I'm to infirm to use it...... True enough, but, I mostly run into guys with 20 gauge guns grouse hunting. For years. A few nutcases with 16s, too. Hell, I'm one of 'em. Best, Ted

Fox man? Ouch that hurt!!! "How is Vermont" in what regard? I'm a non-resident and I don't encounter any problems at all... but I really don't know how to answer your question. The pa'tridge don't seem to notice the difference between a resident and a non-resident.... they treat all hunters as utter novices - or at least the make us look like novices. .
