What is the procedures for getting a non resident license. Can you get a license on line or do you have to buy the license in state? Is a hunter safety course required? (I don't have a hunter safety course as I was exempt when they first came out in Pennsylvania.)

I just picked up a new grouse gun. Henry Clark 12 bore, ejectors, good dimensions and a first for me....25" barrels with a Churchill rib. Should be interesting.

Hey Roberts you're using a wide paint brush. Within Southern American English, "Yankee" is a derisive term used to refer to any and all Northerners, or those from the regions of the Union side of the American Civil War. The OP is from Miss. Now let�s say there�s a heads up thread on a quail gun for southern �Insurgents�. How would that come across?

The last data I looked at from LODGH, about half those who responded to the annual survey used 20's--which hadn't changed much going back 30 years or so. The really big change over that time frame: a real surge in popularity for the 28ga. Slight uptick for the 16ga. Both those gains were at the expense of the 12's popularity. That being said, I have a Jeffery with 28" barrels and pretty open chokes, tips the scale at just under 6#. No reason it wouldn't make a grouse gun . . . although I've always favored smaller bores for grouse & woodcock. But there are plenty of 20's and 16's, and even some 28's, that are heavier than that particular 12.

Why do you always have to do this Joe. Every time, every post. The term Yankee isn't insulting, but the term 'insurgent' is. Why, because they weren't 'insurgents' as no one knew whether a state could succeed from the Union at that time and even several New England states were considering leaving the Union after Thomas Jefferson was elected President.

It was implied, never written but implied, at the time of ratification and in order to ensure ratification by the states that if they disagreed they could succeed from the union. That was the 'mind set' of various politicians throughout the government both at the state and federal level through the later part of the 1700's and early 1800's.

I have no problem with southerners using that word while at the the low country boil but to use it on the world web is something else. Treble how about staying on the use of offensive terms. No good answer- just change the subject to a history lesson.

It was perfectly clear that the original poster meant no offense by using the generic term yankee. He did not use it as a pejorative, but was referring to a good grouse gun useful for northern shooters. We don't have grouse down here...Geo
