a.m., what you say is true...it is difficult to find skilled workmen, who will do simple field grade refinish work at prices low enough to justify the cost...
it makes no sense to put $500 into a $500 gun, so it will then be worth a $1000, and then expect to make even a modest profit.
keep it simple and keep it safe...

dudley, re: "ass sucking little twit"...well, dont remember that...but, ok, if you say so...sadly tho, one who reveals the content of private communication, also reveals himself to be untrustworthy and of low character. Something tells me that Ed favorate saying when he was a child was "I know you are but what am I?". I am still waiting for your explanation of your comments about my "inordinate ambition". When you are ready, you just go ahead...

well dudley, i really dont care to communicate with those who have proven themselves to be untrustworthy...
as to inordinate ambition, i gave you a big clue with the reference to "macbeth"...weather you choose to following it is up to you...
and here is another clue for you to ponder:
"The original post asked for gunsmiths to do mechanical work on a Parker. He isn't looking to get it refinished. "
keep it simple and keep it safe...

tut: what you say above is all true...
as to your question, any restoration of parker case colors is probably not a good investment.
parker barrel rebluing is probably a good investment, so long as the cost is kept around $100.
field grade parker stock refinishing and recheckering is usually a good investment, so long as the cost is kept around $200.
Where in the hell can you find a quality rust blueing for a $100 or a stock refinish and checkering pointed up for $200......!? I would be scared of the finished product if quoted those prices....!
