double gun looseness usually refers to a condition, whereby when a double gun is fully assembled and in the firing position, there is noticeable movement, either vertical or horizontal, between the action face and the barrel breeches...
vertical looseness is often caused by a worn bolting system and can sometimes be fixed by "tightening the bite".
horizontal looseness is often the result of a worn barrel hook or action hinge pin or both...and can sometimes be fixed by "rejoining" the gun...
what is your definition of a loose gun?
