KY Jon, would the initials of this dealer happen to be SB from down South?
A few years ago a famous big auctioneer in the Northeast has quite a few Parkers that were listed as in mint original condition for sale. Looked at by his expert staff and proclaimed original.........until the catalog came out and Doug Turnbull saw it and notified him stating he had refurbished those guns. Doug keeps the serial numbers of all guns he does. Catalog had to be changed.
Can you imagine the embarrassment if these guns were sold as mint original and then find out they were not. Lose a lot of credibility after that.

your complaints about firearms dealers is noted here and elsewhere...
this is why those who fear bad experiences should consider doing business on gunbroker or other websites where there are verifiable feedback ratings of both buyers and sellers...
crooks dont last long on gunbroker...

crooks dont last long on gunbroker... We all remember this Eddy some of your feedback on GB ! " Bought a SxS, gun action was loose when received. Contacted seller to return. Said that since firearm is tight when forearm attached, it is "shootable"...no return. Worst seller I've encountered. Response: (left on 12/12/2013) gun is tight and in fine shooting condition when fully assembled. looseness when forend is removed is normal wear for 100 year old gun. buyers expectations are unrealistic. this feedback is vindictive Follow Up: (left on 12/12/2013) Barrels rattle when mounted. I just asked to return firearm, but was refused. Vindictive? No, just opposed to buying no-return "beaters" at high prices. "

JDW not SB. I have not had personal dealings with SB. I don't fault dealers who unknowingly sell refinished guns as pristine but do question their professional competence if they can not pick out a refinished gun against a real pristine gun. Often I think they don't care and are willing to turn a blind eye and plead ignorance to the fraud, oops their mistake. What I do find fault with is dealers who buy guns, have them refinished and they try to sell them as legit factory original high condition guns.
Ed does not do this for all his faults, he just touches guns and claims this is a legit restoration process which to all informed people here is just such a crock of crap. Ed just takes a beater gun and torches it to make it look like a bunch of grapes and says it "looks" like new. If Parker did that they would have been out of business fifty years earlier. I see a gun with the mumps and laugh at anyone dumb enough to buy such a piece of crap. If you are going to buy something do your homework first and buy a decent item not a salesman special.

Steve Barnett is a personal friend I've known for many years. He's a good guy who tries to represent things accurately. But sometimes things slip by even him.
Several years ago, he acquired an L.C. Smith A2 damascus 12 ga. that was absolutely the finest classic American double I have ever seen or held in my hands. It was absolutely pristine. Pre-1913 Smiths are in a class by themselves anyway, but this gun was just exceptional.
Steve thought it was a restored gun. I looked it over very carefully. After 40 years of this you learn what to look for in originality. I told him it was absolutely original, and he finally agreed. Got a handsome price for it. That was a gun that really bothered me, if you know what I mean.
Point being, he misjudged that one. But he is really an honest guy, he's just in a dishonest trade. JR
Be strong, be of good courage. God bless America, long live the Republic.

" In fairness to Ed, he has 1582 feedback transactions on GB, 1563 positive and a total of 16 negative over the 15 years he's been on GB. I bought a gun from him at a very low price, had it inspected by a top notch gunsmith who pronounced it safe to shoot. It was a good value for the money and I plan on seeing if I can knock down a few doves with it this fall.

Well, if that Parker wasn't a bogus gun before, it'll be one now.
