Do any of the uk or european cartridge makers do a dedicated load for older guns ? I do remember one maker doing them, eley or lyalvale, but despite having searched the web i cannot find them and assume they were discontinued. A 7/8 oz 12 bore load for older guns (and bodies) that you don't want to punish. If you search websites the emphasis is on power and speed.

As I recall, Gamebore makes a load, marketed as "Traditional Game Loads" for 2 1/2 inch guns, that should fit your needs.

bonny, Hull Cartridge's Imperial Game 26 & 28gm with a fiber wad is my choice for older guns. Give John Conroy a ring, (353 (0) 87 25 92 946) he is located in Hophall, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. http://www.jconroy.com/index.htmGood luck

The 16ga Gamebore Traditional Game 2 1/2-inch 28gms felt wad is 8122psi, and the Lyalvale 16 Express 2 1/2-inch 28gms is (or was) 8700psi, from my inquiries to the companies perhaps 15 years ago. I have a couple boxes of both but reload to lighter pressures now.

Have a look at RC-Cartridges. Their "Professional Game" loads are something I have used in my 1896 and my 1902 guns and have found them very recoil friendly. Their specs can be found on the site.
All the best
