YES! Under no circumstances should you ever go near a dove field with a dog.

Chuck, some one is seriously pulling your leg! Next they will tell you never use pigeons for training.. Never use raised birds, only wild. My dog is so savvy, it can tell if a bird has been planted and flat refuses to point / retrieve it!

The only one agreeing with the rumor is my spaniel. She's quite sure dove feathers are toxic.

PeteM: I have found Dihydrogen Monoxide to be vary hard on retrievers that are used for ducks and geese.

In my Chessies it causes a vary extremely unpleasant odor when they are covered with it.

I have hunted with friends that flat refuse to drink anything that might contain even one drop of it.

I noted recently on the NEWS that a lot of people in the Midwest are having problems with excess amounts of it and folks are being killed by it.

Wow, never knew Dihydrogen Monoxide would be so bad for me! I shall promptly fire off a letter to a number of breweries to discontinue putting it in their products. Cetainly irresponsible of them to use such a dangerous ingredient to make a product they present as made with pure ingredients according to the purity laws of 1586 or thereabouts.

I once attended a parade in Phoenix, Arizona. One of the horses in the parade stopped and urinated, it was remarked on at the time that "It's the water". Have a care!

Well you guys back in other parts of the country may still have DHMO, but out here in progressive Howtheycornya (CA) banned that substance many years ago. We are certified 100% free of DHMO.

Thinking back a couple weeks ago at the peak of the dove hatch around here, Jas sniffed out a not yet certified for flight little dove. She ran around the yard with that little dove in her mouth while I chased here down. Finally, she sat and delivered it to my hand. The little fella was unharmed but a little soggy. I put the dove back in the garden where Jas had found it and I saw it with an adult a couple days later in that area. This little area of our garden seems to be the flight training ground for dove hatchlings every year, as it's well protected from sight of the many crows around here.
