Thanks for posting my photos, Raimey. They look much better than I expected. In person, it looks like the lozenge contains a musket (rifle?) with one pistol and one straight horn (like a brass hunting horn). Maybe they're palms, I'm the wrong person to ask. I'll see about doing the chalk thing next week. Maybe get more definition.

So you're thinking the barrels were sourced to Sholberg? I know they did that sort of thing for muzzleloaders, so it makes sense with BPCR (black powder cartridge rifle) as well.

What time frame do ya figure?

Interesting that the serial number on your fancy gun is really close to the s/n on my double (11069). When I slugged the barrels, I noticed that the grooves are really big and the lands are tiny; more like a knife edge than a land. You could say it's really groovy...
