Yes, I should clarify. Not everyone has the same perspective as to how various gun deals are conducted. I was talking from the perspective of large volume, vintage gun dealer, which a significant proportion of inventory is consignment or commission guns.

If someone inquires about a gun, and wants to know if offers are accepted, they are instructed they then must make a formal offer with a credit card. Once that offer has been passed along, and if approved, that gun is sold at that agreed to price and the card is charged. Not that difficult of a system to implement, and significantly reduces wasted time for the seller, retailer, and in the end reduces cost to the buyer.

Doesn't really work in the gun show sphere or casual seller, but for high volume retailers it is almost a necessity.

Still is amusing to find out how many people are surprised that they might actually have to buy the gun if their offer is accepted.
