"Topgun, can you point me to the PE article?"
It's been years since I did that work, and I don't now recall the title; but (from the LC Smith web page) I belive it was the following piece split into two articles and published by the DGJ in 2006 as follows:
L. C. Smith Minutiae and Other Musings, Part II, by Tom Archer with photographs by Terry Allen, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 58.
•L. C. Smith Minutiae and Other Musings, Part I, by Tom Archer with photographs by Terry Allen, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 82.
The PE Grade was the featured gun; but the article discussed various questions left us by Mr. Brophy, as well as some personal observations as I recall. I'd featured this gun because it was shipped with two sets of Krupp Steel barrels; something Mr. Brophy noted in his book that he had not observed, and a barrel option Hunter Arms cataloged for only a brief period.
