Wow, seems like I replied to the wrong Crescent post, sorry. I guess that happens when you get up early because you cannot sleep, and go on the interweb.

It just going to be a wall hanger displayed next to or somehow fitted in with his Navajo bow and quiver display in his den.

This Crescent is in bad shape. Really really bad. He just wants to clean it up a little because this bow and quiver display is beautiful!!

Just take some mineral spirits and 0000 steel wool and scrub the stock down real good, wipe it down good with an old towel to mop up the crud, do the same thing on the metal with WD-40, then wipe the whole gun down with Formby's Tung Oil/Satin.

It will retain enough patina to look correct, rather than a garishly obvious redo.
