Now I need to know what makes sideplate false? I know what a sideplate is, and find them quite nice for additional engraving and for pleasing lines blending the action to the stock. These are made of steel. So what is a "False" sideplate?

No innards stuck to 'em! I like the Coggie Avant Tout sideplatted guns, but not the Charles Hellis.

Dern Lowell, Google didn't like that first name you dropped Ol'bean. Product of a public school edUmoCation, no doubt!

What does Google know - they're geeks! Btw, Google didn't like your first name either.

The current Robertsons are between a rock and a hard place. I don't think they are selling well. My reports are that they ARE NOT a Boss at CSMC Fox pricing. I do like the quarter rib O/U however, even if the price is about 60% too high. I hope to shoot one at Gamefair.
I originally corresponded with the man who made the first pair. In hindsight, I think the published reports about a dedicated factory, etc. were inaccurate. I think the guns are an assemblage of components from the HK empire, with some hand work done in Britain. I'd like to be proven wrong on this, as I'm looking for a reason to spring for one.
But, in general, You don't hear much about them anymore. If I had a Famars and a Robertson side by side, I'd probably pic the spaghetti gun.
Out there doing it best I can.

Didn't some Englishman say in "Roberto's" price range all you get in England is an extra polished "Spagetti Gun"? Those "gun guts" are probably from: Spain, Italy, Belgium,...., no?

"Was A.H. FOX wrong?"
Only in his business plan. But I already own one, actually two, and the "one" is second to none other than fit, which is about as close as my senior year button fly 501's. Honestly, Tony's Fox is probably even better, it just lacks something, maybe a hundred years of soul. Now if he had a hand checkered, hand engraved dressed up SKB, we're waiting in line.
Where did the funeral guns go? And what happened to affordable Birmingham/Edinburgh non-false-side-plated box-locks? Why does it matter, it'll be sleeved in a bright blue Beretta soft case strapped to a k-mule.
