My only comment on Misfires, in a private message to a member today:

"Misfires could be an entertaining and informative exchange of opinions---and facts--if a few American members demonstrated the good manners of other members of an international board. That's not going to happen. Dave shut down Misfires rather than remove them from the board."

Dave did the right thing.

I was giving jOe the trOll an ass whipping down in Misfires. hE started whIning to Dave to protect hIm. Dave got tired of his whIning and shut Misfires down.

I think it's funny that jOe the trOll went to the moderator for protection 'cause his intended target was giving him an ass whipping.

Some have complained of my repetitive responses to jOe's "arguments".

So here is jOe's full repetoire:

Dave Weber sent me a PM and asked that if he could get old stUpid to quit making pitiful attempts at insulting me would I end the feud. I told him sure. But I also told him that, because jOe is very stUpid, jOe won't ever quit. All jOe ever had to do to end this was not respond to my most recent insult of him.

jOe made the first pitiful attempt to insult me. I will have the last insult. And our feud will go on until Dave bans jOe or bans me. I insulted jOe several times in this post. As it now stands and as far as I am concerned our feud is over. But jOe will make another pitiful attempt to insult me.

Because like the Gladiator you must find new and interesting ways to "kill" your opponent. The mob was not entertained.

You know, if i walk down to the local pub for a little social interaction, I would be joining a group of people who, by their presence in the pub, demonstrate a clear interest in beer. And we might talk about light and dark beers, lagers and ales, hops and clear spring waters. But it's highly likely our shared interest in beer would lead to conversations on a wide ranging assortment of other topics.

I view it the same here. Nothing wrong with being able to cover a wide variety of subjects, including politics. And, like in the pub, IMHO, when two people can't agreed to disagree, they should "take it outside". But I have no interest, as I wouldn't in the pub, in trying to silence those who I disagree with or not allow them in in the first place. Free speech is exactly that. Free speech. (Yes I know this is a private forum owned by Dave but I'm sure you get my point).

Frankly, I'm not really interested in talking endlessly with people who think in lockstep with me. It's boring. Kinda like the difference between normal relations with a woman or masturbation. I'll take the woman every time.

I think if I was to look back and research it, I would find more feuds where the common denominator was jOe.

I don't see any facts being exchanged here, and it seems to me that the only information being exchanged here is that emotional adjectives will never mean the same thing to different people. Why not admit that facts and exchange aren't always the intention, sometimes it's just triggering emotion. If you're able to get folks going, haven't you 'won'. Yup, that and a dime used to buy a cup of coffee.

Craig, just asking....aren't most conversations an unknowable in advance stew of fact and opinion, reason and emotion? Why would/should it be different here? These are conversations.

It is so funny to me that we argue so much here. I'm on another gun forum where, in a OT discussion about the situation of Muslim refugees in the Nordic countries and their attitudes towards women, we have one member, a NA born Muslim convert, suggesting there is nothing wrong with sex/marriage between a 22 year old man and a 12 year old girl.

King, nca and all others here ARE positively rational and sensible in comparison.

If, big if, the conversation is acceptable here, I don't think it should make one bit of difference at all. I was just pointing out my perception of what it means to take the high road. Cback, you had me going with a good laugh, how much research did you do to decide you'd take the woman? Never mind, I'll crawl back in my hole.
