Thanks George. Very interesting; puts a different slant on some of the things said around here.

Thanks for the off-topic post Geo. King's little brother Larry ought to be along any minute to admonish you for posting it. Actually, I read this article a couple years ago. What does it have to do with double guns, and how does it do anything to counter King's long-standing anti-gun, anti-NRA, and anti-2nd Amendment rhetoric?
I especially liked the parts of your article that said King's father was Development Officer for St. Francis Xavier University. That kinda runs counter to little King's claim that he was the Development Director, and it seems to confirm what I had found when I checked that claim. It does also say that on the first page of your precious article, "By title, he's simply an extension worker at St Francis Xavier University..." I actually called St. Francis Xavier to ask if he had been Director of the Peoples School, as he had claimed. The person I spoke with could not find anything to confirm that. Neither could extensive searches of Google, Yahoo, Bing, and several other U.S. and Canadian Search Engines. This article by King's friend Harry Bruce seems to be little more than a repetition of what he was told during an interview with King. We've heard most of these Cock and Bull stories many times before. My opinion of King has not changed. It is based upon what I have read, and what he himself has posted here. Too bad there was nothing in your article to tell the reader how much King has done to advance the cause of gun rights in Canada. But based on his rhetoric here, I probably wouldn't believe that either.
Piers Morgan probably has some good things in his resume too, but it won't make him pro-gun Geo. Nice try.

Hi keith. Posting the article was not intended to be persuasive of anything; just some biographical information on an enigmatic member of this bulletin board whose politics are no more appreciated by me than they are by you.
Not my article, just sharing a little public information that was helpful to me in understanding the man. Notwithstanding King's politics or even his opinion on gun control I admire the man described in the article I posted...Geo

Thanks George , I mentioned the truth of his stories once before when his character was questioned, and like I said then I first heard his name was in school ,and if I recall correctly we learned the story of his Father's plane crash during WWII.
Though we've never met face to face ,I'm very proud to consider King my friend .

Can't say I share all that much in common with King, other than a last name. And Brown, after all, is a pretty common one. In my case, I've had quite a life. Let's see . . . running back for the Redskins. That was after the baseball season, when I was an infielder for the Cleveland Indians. Don't be confused by the deep suntan if you see my football pictures. Remember, I was out in the sun playing baseball all summer. After retirement, got into coaching basketball and won an NCAA championship at Kansas. Pretty interesting family too. Great granddad John, fighting to free the slaves. Then, somewhere along the line, one of the relatives got into a biracial relationship and produced Uncle James of rock and roll fame. Woops. Missed the war record, and the Canadian connection that may link me to King--but I'm not sure. Great Uncle Roy, flying with the Royal Flying Corps in WWI, was credited with shooting down the Red Baron. More recently they seem to credit the Baron's demise to ground fire, but I'm sticking with the family legend. Now it's Keith's turn to publish his family tree. I'll bet it doesn't have all the interesting branches the Brown family tree has.

It's mostly the anti-gun crap that gets under my skin, and his almost total support for the politicians and Party most responsible for infringements upon our gun rights. It seems to really bother some folks to see his own words repeated. Often, it has even bothered him, to the point that he either denies them, or lays low for a few days until a particular thread fades into obscurity. To read some of the comments here, you'd think I had denied that King ever worked for the CBC or that his Dad was a great guy and a WWII bomber pilot and POW. You really sat on this article for some time. I wondered when you were going to post it. I also wonder why you're not doing the same to prop up Ed? I think they are equally admirable.

Someday, when King no longer posts here, another link to the earliest times on hard, cold, coasts, will have slipped further away. And I will always say that I am glad to have crossed paths with him.
Out there doing it best I can.
