About 10 weeks ago I sold my barber shop in Waseca and retired. The Herter's Catalog was always in a drawer as it seems at least 2 or 3 times a week someone from out of town would stroll through "lookin for Herter's". It is amazing how many, upon seeing the old catalog, would sit in the barber shop, page through the catalog, and reminisce about days gone by for hours at a time. Much like you guys are doing now. George was a very interesting fellow. They say there is a fine line between genius and insanity...It would seem in George's case, that he may have wandered, back and forth over that fine line for most of his life. His stuffed animals from the showroon ended up at auction. The last I heard of them they can be seen in Springfield, MO at the Bass ProShop there. George had some rather spectacular gunstock wood! Ideas ran through him like water through a sieve. Quite frankly, while Waseca has many other businesses, it seems to me as though when Herter's closed Waseca was no longer a destination for a day stop during one's vacation.

I, for one, miss old George...But, I still have one of his World Famous Catalog's. And NO! It is NOT for sale!
