Yes I was only speaking of SxS guns. This is of course not to say that no other types of these have ever opened upon firing, the rotary bolted ones just seem to be the ones I have knowledge of.

it has been several years this came up bu to the best of my recollection Smiths, Foxes & NIDs were all checked by various members & none reported a fit to the rear. To the best of my knowledge Alexander Brown developed the original rotary bolt & this was one of the features he touted highly that it served not only to bolt the barrels shut but also to help absorb the back thrust from firing by binding the standing breech to the barrels. This was also of course the claim of Greener's cross bolt but his was much easier to fit properly.
