If it means anything to you, my gun fitter at Woodcock Hill shoots a standard BSS 12ga as his main clays gun. A silver trigger, older style.

The thing looked well worn, but he says he's got more than a couple thousand rounds through her without a hiccup.

Jeff, congrats on the BSS! I know you'll get the most out of it. I owe you a phone call for an evening shotgun chat. My next Drahthaar pup is coming next Saturday, so I've been in puppy mode.

CSMC Model 21 worst gun purchase I ever made. Beautiful gun but not dependable and their repair department is the worst I have ever dealt with. Has been back 14 times so far for repairs. It is there now with no indication of when I may see it again.

Tim,

14 times would test one's patience.

Any chance your home state or Connecticut has a vehicle type "lemon law" that applies to consumer goods?

+1 Bob... even if it was the understatement of the year.

Oh boy, this discussion reached into my savings and pulled out a 12 ga. BSS Sporter. I've been a secret admirer of these and this thread pushed me over the edge! AAAHHH! It's a 28" at 7 lbs. 10 oz., so it will work out for me fine on the clay range with my usual 7/8 oz. loads.

Dave, you won't even feel those loads in that gun! Going to have the chokes opened? I'm guessing it's M/F, not a Sporter based on the weight?

Well done, Dave. Most sporters I see are 26".

The chokes are listed "M/F", so I'll measure, pattern and see what they are. If they are that tight it might be a candidate for for screw chokes or at least some reaming.. We'll see about the weight....maybe a typo? It's all Sporter based on the pictures. I almost bought one years ago for a lot less...
