Last season in particular would have been the time to chase quail in TX. I got a brief taste in the OK Panhandle. Wow. Time for all TX quail hunters to cross their fingers. Good spring and summer weather with sufficient rain, the quail population might reach nuisance level this year.
I sure hope you are right, Larry. Dale Rollins is not quite so optimistic for next year. Last season was the best quail hunting I've ever seen in my lifetime and I've done a lot of it. I had a few days last season where I found 30+ covey of quail/day, the average being 18-20 covey/day, and a bad day 12-14. It was unreal, for sure. And talk about making bird dogs.....there is no substitute for wild birds.
