The only issue with the shell bags on a clays course is if you're saving your hulls rather than pitching them. You end up with a shooting vest full of empties. If you're OK with that, the bag does lighten your load somewhat--and is a particularly good choice if it's a 50 target course rather than 100.

I have both leather and canvas. You can find good quality in either material. If you are going to wear it while shooting be sure that the flap is hinged.
I have found that I prefer to load fron my jacket/vest pockets. I place the bag on the ground and replenish my pockets from the bag.

If you're still looking for a gunslip, the Filsons are well padded and durable with a lifetime guarantee that they actually honor. They can be found discounted.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

I follow the same procedure on driven shoots, Dennis. The bag is for carrying the shells and replenishing. I have an old vest I bought in Scotland--now getting somewhat tattered--that has flap pockets which snap open. I usually wear a Goretex lined jacket due to the weather, but that vest is otherwise perfect for driven shooting. Roomy pocket, easy access.
