To the best of my recollection i have only ever owned one double fitted with Shoe Lumps. This is a VL&D Knock-About sidelock made by J P Sauer & Son. It is a 30" 7 lb gun & the barrels touch at the muzzle. A quick measurement by machinist 6" flexible scale shows a firing pin spacing Of 1 1/8", about normal for a gun of this weight. I see no reason why a shoe lumb barrel should be wider spaced than a chopper lump or dovetail lump. note when I say dovetail lump I am Not speaking of a Dovetailed Chopper Lump. Those are the ones which are generally wider spaced.
