That's kinda how I feel. They look nice, and add a part of the gun that can impress (or detract) due to the quality of the inletting.

Metal is obviously less likely to break than wood, but you're thinning out the thinnest part of the grip even more, and drilling two screw holes in it. Seems like a wash.
