I have not dealt with every Cabelas. Maybe Larry B. can give you a more complete answer that I can. I have bought from three different stores and each time they have come down on the item I was buying. But to be honest, several times I have asked about other guns and they have not been willing or able to come down. In those cases I passed. Not clear if they thought the price was OK, it might have been a consignment gun and they could not deal on price or maybe they had others interested in the same gun and saw no reason to come down in price. The average gun room "salesman" does not and can not dicker in price from what I have learned. Out of their league and beyond their power to do, if you know what I mean.
I always try to talk with the gun room manager if I can. I offer to give them a credit card number to secure the gun and send a certified check with the FFL. Might save them 1-1.5% by using a check and the certified check cost me nothing at my bank. Since I do not live in a state with a retail store I save sales taxes. If I were to drive and pickup the gun I have to pay taxes. Shipping is not free but often less than the sales taxes would be. In fact I went and looked at one gun while I was traveling and had it shipped to me. Cheaper and I needed to see the gun before I spent that much money.
