It's kind of like Wounded Warriors, an organization that spends way more on salaries and BS than on veterans. There is information on the internet that has exposed this organization. I imagine we can search the net to find out how DU spends their money. I'll be waiting while posters compile this information. How about the grouse and pheasant people? I have no idea, but won't give a dollar until I find out.

Yep: and you can add the United Way, Red Cross, Handgun Control Inc.** and I'm suspect several other organizations that pay their executives outlandish salaries or retainers to that list. I donate to the Salvation Army every chance I get. Their CEO is paid a little over $30,000 per year and the bulk of the money they take in actually goes towards helping those in need.
**Sarah Brady was paid a $200,000 annual retainer by this organization and had a travel budget of over $200,000 as well. She milked her husbands tragedy for everything it was worth.

i doubt any organization raising money pleases everyone, I was a chairman for one of the big ones and got a very bad taste from dealing with the money guys. I donate to DU because I can see the good done- something i could not with the other.

maybe its simply like the old law quote
Laws are like sausages. It's better not to see them being made.

Many of those organizations spend so much on the magazine they publish and advertising the gear they market that it's hard to imagine enough being left over to do much good. That said, I belong to Pheasants Forever and Trout Unlimited; the yearly dues aren't much more than the price of a nice calendar, and they send me one every year.

BBB rates Wounded Warriors at A+. The reason is that BBB "Does not rate this organization", so I guess anyone who gives 40% or less to the cause and keeps 60% or more for shrimp, lobster, and plane fares is OK with them and rates an A+. Well, it's not OK with me and I thing they are all crooked. Go on shotgunworld.com subforum skeet shooters to find out what we know about some of these crooked organizations.

Fair enough. ?? How many members of the NSSA are Veterans- of that number, how many received the Purple Heart. How many members of the ATA fall under the same category? Wounded Warriors is a great organization- Our local VA Hospital gives our pheasant hunting club a list of interested Vets who want to do a Tower Pheasant Shoot- as guests. Anything any organization does to help our Vets recover from PTSD, STD, VSF and any other combat related traumas is worthwhile-IMO..
