In part I echo Boats' "If I don't have anything good to say, I don't say anything at all."

I am really torn over this. Free speech (also responsible speech) is critical.

Further I like many others look for advice and experience on various gun issues to include both sellers and gunsmiths.

Years back there was a shop in Florida promising rebarrelling at great prices and it turned out not to be giving any kind of acceptable service. I am glad someone posted on them as it saved me from making a big mistake with a 20ga LC Smith 5E.

I do not like to speak unfairly of people or trash them personally. I work very hard to control my emotions in posting. Yet still if a service is not satisfactorily provided I believe any member with fairness should be able to post.

Recently a posting about a gunsmith shop was made that showed amongst some things horrible checkering. It concerned me in two ways. First I have had a couple of successful experiences at that shop and from both the current and former owner. Second I have a gun there now and checkering is part of the project on a butt transplant. While it gave me pause, I will wait and see how it works out and if good I will give fair credit.

The rule should be simple; be prepared to honestly and unemotionally support your points before you post and especially if going negative, pause a bit, organize your points and the support for them, then post with both good thought and supported by simple facts. Always endevour to be professional (gentlemanly).

A difference between humans and animals is the ability to control emotion and use reason. While we are all capable of it, we tend not to more often than not.
