I've been to two of the lodge/outfitters mentioned. Border Bucks in Missouri is an excellent deer hunting destination run by good people. I've been there four times to shoot television programs for Bowhunter Magazine TV. Their deer stands are well thought out and set up safely. I've been other places where stands and steps were set by a twenty something wearing shorts in August. Now try a fifty something dressed for cold weather in November climbing into them. The Border Bucks tree stands were NOT that way. Easy to climb into with proper shooting lanes over well traveled deer corridors. We were successful each time we were there. Bill Hill and his wife are wonderful hosts with good food and very nice accommodations.
There is another lodge mentioned in this list in another state that was not as described. Poor accommodations, poor food, with bad stand placements. The owner had the place full of mounts he'd shot on a private hunting club property. Of course the guest hunters couldn't go there. I won't go back there. . . or mention the name of the place.
