I'm sorry to say you are absolutely right - the world is a changed and increasingly changing place - often not for the better. As a boy the shotguns hung above the range in the kitchen on a purpose built rack - which I still have in my office but no longer holding the guns it was built for. The box of grand prix on the shelf below them, the doors never locked with the van parked outside with the keys in the ignition. Maybe they were just not valuable enough to attract attention back then? John

With the advent of the internet and forums such as this one, the 'need' for clubs is not as great as it once was. We have seen this in the classic car arena.
We used to exchange views, points of view and information face to face over a pint in the pub at a club meeting or at one or two regular national annual meetings. Now we can do the same thing with a very much wider audience from the comfort of our own homes.
I would like to see a UK based vintage gun enthusiasts entity of some sort though and I applaud the Perrins chaps. Even so, I suspect that the really interesting guns are owned by wealthy individuals who are by nature reclusive and private. What I don't have a feel for is just how many vintage gun enthusiasts like us are around in the UK. There's only about a dozen of us regularly posting on here. I'm surprised its not more.

I'm sorry that the social climate in the UK has done this to you lads. I never would have guessed this.
Perhaps you could just start a "Breeka and wellies day" at your club? Just so that people re touch the old days, and grill some hot dogs together. And have a good chuckle. If it grew to more, great. You might be surprised how many people slowly warm up to a costume day at the gun club. The old guns slowly follow.
Out there doing it best I can.
