Hey-meds, schmeds- "I just call 'em as I see's 'em" If Ed were honest in his gun dealing, like Kirby Hoyt and Bill Jaqua, that would be that- but as his "3 day return for refund if not as described" were legit, well that would be that- his "return policy" holds up like a beer fart in a Mach 3 wind tunnel- and being a Mick Irish-we don't hold much for civil--Easter Sunday 1916 when the most "civilized Empire" History has ever known gave us the shaft-o!! Screw being civil!!!

Seems like I hit a nerve with some! I used to carry all that in a small backpack with everything clanging around. In the past I have taken these tools to gun shows, gun stores and gun auctions and have always received a welcome reception. I always ask if I can measure the gun before I proceed.
I wonder how those who object to these tools and process assess the guns they are proposing to purchase?

I carry a small wood box that was formerly full of artist supplies, it now contains micrometers, calipers, a small scales and tape measure and other tools I need to feel good about a gun purchase. BTW along the same note as the OP's is a "Chicago Style" shotgun case I made about 10 years ago from an old violin case. I no longer own the case or the gun, having to sell them several years ago to pay doctor bills. Steve

Steve[/quote] Rockdoc, I have made the same but out of square 'viola' cases as they are a bit longer and can accept a 30 in barrel. is your barrel 28 or 30 inches?

years ago, when i used to go to gun shows to buy, i carried a few tools in a small gas mask bag...i made a judgement about a purchase based on the item, but also my vibs re the seller... one is as important as the other...
i have not set up at gun shows for over twenty years now...price chisling, new england yankee, flea market mentality types, ruined it for me...
i plan to do some shows in the deep south this winter...if a guy showed up with that kit, i would ask him to move on and not take up space and time that could be occupied by a serious retail buyer...

I think the case toolkit is a good idea, after all who wants to discover later that the gun they have forked out a lot of hard-earned for is a dud.
I want to make a bore gauge like the one displayed, a wall gauge is easy to make, but can a bore gauge be made up ? I have priced them online and they seem very expensive for what they are. Any ideas ?

Ed Good, you really don't have much intellect to disperse but you really love to push buttons. Interesting how may bite!
Damn, I guess that's me now.
