Being an imported Brit gun, wouldn't it have to have gone through one of the proof houses and thus be stamped with its chamber length?

Hardest thing for me to understand, is why someone would buy a relatively expensive Brit .410 gun (much less three) that they do not know where to buy ammunition for. But, my hat's off to anyone who is willing to take on the challenge in order to get to put an, almost, obsolete gun back to use. Maybe that's the difference in a shooter like me and a true collector, to whom shooting is a non-event. To me, shooting is not an afterthought ............. it IS the thought.

No disrespect intended towards anyone who is mainly a collector. You guys are the ones who really preserve the old guns.

Morris Baker at RST showed me his new .410s. They might not be on the website, but a phone call would tell you whether they are available. A phone call to Kent Cartridge may help also. I have .410s from both companies, so they do exist.

Eightbore,

Thanks for the follow-up. I'll call RST, I need to place an order for some of their lite 28ga loads anyway.

Stan,

I've had these .410s for a while, one of them for over 30 years, purchased back when prices were a bit more reasonable. And I agree with you, I have little interest in guns that I cannot enjoy in the field. I shoot them with imported 2 1/2'" shells, but a domestic ammo supply would sure be handy.

And who was it that said "I have as many shotguns as I need, but not as many as I want"? I know that feeling...

That's good that it is a 2 1/2" chamber job. Just avoid U.S. 2 1/2" fodder as that is a bit too much as regards pressure. Certainly Eley, Lyalvale and Fiocchi all make suitable stuff. British standard 2" load is 5/16th. ounce of shot and the 2 1/2" load is 7/16th. ounce. Lyalvale do load there's with a full 1/2 ounce and looking at a box of Fiocchi I have they load 3/8th. ounce. Lagopus.....

Phil Gramm said the quote about guns and needs.
Ithaca1, I assume those recipes are for 2.5".
I wonder if brass hulls could be utilized for those loads if the brass were 2". Thanks for the recipes. Gil
PS: I ordered 3" .410 brass from RMC on Oct. 27th. Just last night I got the shipping notice. Looking forward to loading it.

GLS,
Yes, 2-1/2". Sorry for not being thorough.

I guess I'm not paying attention. Why did you order 3" brass?
