Neat gun and a great restoration. The Egyptian connection makes me wonder if she was abandoned by the Germans somewhere in the desert. I would name it Monty.

I guess, Mr. Barnes was a member of the British 37 FIELD SQUADRON, who was based at the Canal Zone in Egypt from 1952 - 1954 and repaired the Triebel for a companion who got it some years earlier in WW II in Germany. The plate was probably a kind of joke. It's only a guess of course...!

Thanks much. I think you are right about the gun being taken in Germany and then transported to Egypt. More ducks in Egypt than the Western Desert!
