Thanks for the comments on this one guys. Interesting to hear you theories, which align pretty much with my thoughts.
It would be great to try and put a manufacture date on this with your help. I am guessing late 1800's, but maybe the bigger guns were still made with hammers into the early 1900's or maybe even beyond?
I have started to do try and renovate the woodwork on this now.
When it comes to the barrels, would they have been blacked or browned? I'm thinking they would look nice browned and i have a local guy that can do it for me (once he has extended his chemical tray to fit the long barrels).
