Brian,
I have a Griffin & Howe Round Body Game Gun that is made for them by Arrieta. The wood on mine is very nice like yours but the finish and checkering are fair at best. I won this gun in a raffle so I kicked in a few extra dollars for upgraded wood when I ordered it. You would think that with a wood upgrade the finish would be up to good standards but that does not seem the case. I was not impressed with the finish on any of the Griffin & Howe Arrieta's that I have seen. Otherwise I really like the gun and use it for most of my hunting. I keep saying I am going to have the finish and checkering redone but haven't gotten to it just yet.

I have that very gun, the 570, in 20 gauge that I ordered from Wingshooting Adventures a couple years ago. Absolutely no problems with anything.
I wonder what the story is behind the situation.

I have a Beretta that is stocked in French walnut that has the same colouring as yours. It just doesn't have near as much figure.

I was through the Arrieta factory several years ago ans saw nothing that was'nt well done, icluding the checkering. I cant imagine that they would sell a gun unfinished.
