To me the new venue was a marked improvement. The display rooms were lighted so that it was actually possible to see the guns you wanted to examine. I have to agree with Steven though that going to Las Vegas is asking to be screwed. The town is set up to take advantage of its quests. Food is too expensive and there is nothing special about their $20 breakfasts, $12 hamburgers, or $4 bottles of water. The show was just fine.

A far cry from the "old" days when you could have $3.99 Steak and eggs at the Peppermill, and a $7.99 super buffet at the Stardust..... Still had $2.00 blackjack ( single deck) at the Barbary Coast with a great 5 star Restaurant ( Michaels) across the Room. I remember a 20 gauge BE Lefever at the Lamboy's Ithaca Classic Doubles booth that they were "planning" on resurrecting !!! Too bad it never came to fruition.....
Anybody remember Bob Jones with his tables of killer Charles Daly's and pre war German / Austrian guns?
Best regards,

I still miss the tent.

After checking all the prices and attached rips I decided that I was just not gonna get bent over like that.

What I did do was order another gun case from Ziegel - for about the same $ that the run to Vegas would've cost me - and the case will actually be of value and use to me.

resort fee my ass

have another day

I agree with Patrick completely. Such a step up from past years. My wife and I enjoyed the restaurants, but it took a bit of practice to find what one likes the best.

We often were amused by the staff at most places in the Hotel. Very friendly and often funny. Always a "My pleasure, Sir" They have apparently been trained well. Not like the grumpy incompetent folks at the recent previous years.

After checkin at the Riviera, I never saw any staff. What would I need them for? As for food, I skipped breakfast, grazed during the day at the Marilyn Monroe hot dog and beer bar, and at dinnertime, drinks at the Splash Bar. By seven or eight oclock, I was in my room. Hot dog and a beer at the MM bar was three or four bucks. I went out for dinner once in Vegas and half of the table was asleep in their food. Never again.

Found a nice 32 gauge belgian hammer gun. Toby Barclay and Kirby Hoyt brought a great selection of hammer guns to see. Tremendous selection of high end european double guns on display throughout the room, but especially at Steve Barnett's booth.

Was nice to see the auction houses bring some nice guns out. Too bad many of them are located pretty far out of the way for me to usually see their guns in person.

One category I didn't see as much of as in past years was vintage shotgun "stuff " like cases, tools, etc.

Was fun to see so many friends there.

Got my room for all three nights for $128 total all in including taxes and no resort fees by agreeing to attend a 90 minute complementary lunch buffet and Westgate condo tour / pitch with a nice sales lady. (they offered to finance a condo timeshare at the hotel for $120K at 19% APR ... wasn't hard to say no to that)
