Any ideas?

The best material is Cerrosafe. It melts between 158° - 190° F and once it returns to ambient temp it is dimensional true to the mold. you can purchase through Brownells and it is reusable.

Morning John, sorry I misunderstood your request. Guess I need to google a firearms terms dictionary. On your original question, the dimension across the 20 ga water table is 1 7/16" and both 12 and 20 sideplates are 4 1/2" long.

Yes, the mounting holes are the same and bridle pins are in essentially the same location from front to back. However on the 12 ga it is up 1/32" higher from the bottom of the sideplate. Following are a few more pictures. The first shows the 20 sideplate sitting on top the 12. Everything matches up except for the height.

Couple other pics showing the two sideplates. In both the 12ga sideplate is on the bottom. Another difference between the 2 is that the 20 sideplate is .08" thick while the 12 is .125". This difference makes the 20 sideplate weaker which can be seen by the bending. Also, the hammer on the 20 is 1.06" tall and the 12 is 1.17" tall. You can also see the difference between the bridles.

The firing pin setup is as I expected. This post is getting a little long so I will provide some additional questions/info/photos in another.

John, forgot to do it earlier but wanted to thank you for taking the time to pull two guns apart.

Regarding the firing pins, it would be interesting to know if a 16ga was built like a 12 or 20. Also thanks for the idea on casting. Seems like a good approach. Probably would need to clean up the plug first to remove as much surface irregularities as possible. Figuring out the firing pin will be interesting. I've got some concerns about it falling out too far when the hammer is cocked. I'll put together a sketch of an idea I have.

Attached are a couple of pics of my stock. Compared to your 12ga stock, there isn't much material to hold it together.

Here's another picture that shows a difference between the two gauges (12ga on top).

Finally, as for the cocking rod, I'd be interesting in hearing your idea. The rod is the same diameter and the length seems to be correct but might need a slight length adjustment. The picture shows my idea of how to modify the rod. Thinking that I could remove the necessary material and pay someone to TIG weld it. I'd be concerned about changing the hardness of the tip though.

Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated.
