Under 2K the value is most surely in the used market. The only problem is having the skill to separate the junk from the treasures. That sort of expertise takes years of education and a few mistakes. I have a few under 2K guns that have 4K value in the new gun market. One is an L C Smith field grade (1939) and a Needham (Greener) fowler (1926). Most European and British guns built between the wars are well made. The same can be said for SOME American guns. My personal favorites are German and British.
