I recently passed on a 16 ga. Tobin, as I could not complete my inspection of the gun because its Hackett (snap) type forend could not be removed, no matter how much hand force was applied. What might have been the reason for this stubborn forend?

I found a crushed piece of lead shot once in a joint that kept me from getting the forend off of a Sterlingworth with ejectors.

No clue how it got here.

Sometimes opening the action first, and then trying to remove the forend makes it easier.

I have this flat thin gizmo made of some kind of poly----- by a member of the Parker GCA that you slip between barrels and forend and they usually move without damage to either forend or barrels. Merkels are notorious for tight forends and it works great on those.
