I've never owned an Ithaca Lefever A Grade and don't know much about them. I passed up a pretty nice one in 16 ga. a few years ago at a gun show because I was looking for another Syracuse Lefever. This was before I had heard of the very low production numbers. The price was low enough that I still kick myself. I am surprised that I see as many of them as I have with production numbers that low. I've heard they have a lot in common with Ithaca NID's and have also heard that they even share some identical parts with NID's, but do not know if that is true.

This is an example of the earlier pre-1916 LEFEVER. The action is very different, and has cocking indicators on each side. This one was restored by Buck Hamlin.

I bought one at the Kansas City show many years ago. 20ga, standard configuration. One of those guns I should have kept.

An LAC "A" grade is a very high grade as well as highly desirable gun. From B through DS/I there were eight lower grades but only 3 higher including the elusive $1,000 dollar grade.

Yes, but is appearance where the similarity to the Ithaca NID ends? Did Ithaca produce two distinctly different double shotguns that merely look similar? Or did they in fact share some identical internal parts?
