I was in the Bernardsville store about a dozen years ago when I was in the area on business. Sadly, I had just started to get interested in fine guns so really had no idea what I was looking at nor did I really understand Griffin & Howe's place in the fine gun firmament.

Different story when I was in Covey & Nye in Manchester, Vermont last year. Almost as nice as poking around in CJO's safe! LOL

I stopped by the Bernardsville store while they were still transitioning it from the hardware store that it used to be. That had to be in the late 80's or very early 90's. Most of the gunsmithing was being done there for awhile, but that was moved to the Farm to make more room for the retail aspect of the business. Met Paul Chapman on my first visit, and have been a regular there ever since. I don't know how much walk-in traffic they have during the week, but there are usually 3-4 people in the store during the few hours I'm there on Saturday mornings, and I think they will lose some of that exposure when they make the change. On the bright side for me, Hudson Farm is actually closer to my home than Bernardsville is so I'll save some gas and have more gun money to play with. I wish them luck, and hope that there are no personnel changes.

Looks to me like they are having to cut overhead to stay profitable. I see they have a "black gun" on their site as well. 🙈🙉🙊

Is the fine gun market shrinking?
