Looks to be pre-WWI but the marks will narrow the scope. Looks to be a Modell V or a spruced up Modell II? Kind Regards/Cheers, Raimey rse

Thank You, Raimey: I am grateful for your assistance: It appears whoever the Damascus barrel maker was, was NOT Leupold Bernard. That solves one puzzle for me. The man who sold it to us was not a "kid;" his uncle may have brought it back from WW1. (I will never know) Sincerely; Sam Ogle

I'm curious if there are any marks on the underside of the tubes forward of the flats & aft of the forend hanger? Like HUF, etc.?
Kind Regards/Cheers,

Yes; several marks on both barrels. They are barely visible, and I have gone to the internet to "German Proof Marks" attempting to see if any of them possibly match. (Without much luck) "CAL" is clear, but then.....I can't read anything after that. There appears to be a stamp of a man standing, but not really clear. There are Two "Crowns" on the flats, side by side, one larger than the other. There is a mark on both which says "SO" Also, on the between the barrels bottom rib, there is a "S" which looks like a Sauer "S" on "modern" guns.

CAl 181(mm) would have been one stamp. The 2 Crowns denote quality(high) & shooting performance(pattern tested).

I see the SO on the tubes and some Script L? adjacent to a Script H and some numbers. I'll have to smoke it over a bit closer. Kind Regards/Cheers, Raimey rse
