I agree with what you said about home-made checkering tools. I've seen a lot of them that range from crude to nicely done. But I don't think the old time smiths who made them would have taken the considerable time to do that if they had the luxury of being able to order tools and cutters of consistent quality at a reasonable cost from places like Brownells.

Does anyone know of a source for sharpening of the carbide cutters for MMC electric checkering tools?
