Keith, that is an unfortunate story. Here, due to the fact that the seller was incapable of conveying basic information about the gun, I considered it a high-risk transaction and limited my bidding accordingly. Fortunately, the auction ended before it hit a price where I grew uncomfortable. There have been a number of auctions where I have stopped bidding despite considerable time and energy invested researching on account of uncertainty regarding the intended purchase. On one hand, I may have missed out, but on the other hand I may have avoided an ill-advised purchase that I couldn't afford. In any event, that is the kind of "unethical" behavior that won't prevent me from sleeping at night.

I met a guy recently who fleeced a guy dying on his death bed out of a nice Spanish double for a fire sale price. Left a bad taste in my mouth. He seemed quite pleased with himself though.

KY Jon, agreed, I am happy and that is all that matters. I just come here to get better informed to hopefully anticipate mistakes so that I can avoid them in the future or learn from the ones I have already made. There is definitely a locality factor in gun sales as well.

Have to admit, I don't get the draw of a Model 12. That being said, if I find a good deal on one, I would probably buy it. Always fun to try out different varieties of scatter guns smile
