Perry, I am acutely aware where my capabilities end so I do only that which I feel qualified to do and farm out the really clever stuff to outworkers who are more qualified than I.
Probably, 'as it ever was' in the British gun trade. Work to your strengths.
I concentrate on the aesthetics (pins, blacking, browning, stock finishing, action regulation and cases) and get the barrel lapping, jointing and proof work done by a specialist.
As one of my colleagues in the trade put it: I do 'pretty', they do 'safe'!
However, the 'pretty' can be very much more time consuming than the 'safe' so I possibly invest 5-10 times as much time in a project than the really important guys!
