When it's hot and fast---birds crippled on the water, swimming away---it's particularly aggravating to me. Guns should open fully without pushing, not made that way.

I experimented a little more with my Gamba. Interestingly, if it has been fired the barrels open all the way and stay open when it is cocked just like they should. It is only if it hasn't been fired, when you are removing unfired shells, that it requires the extra pressure to fully open so the shells can be removed.

Good, some folks hunt quail with dogs and leave their guns open until approaching the point, in this way the ammo does not fall out during the walking around following the dogs.

That's my idea as well. I often carry a gun open if I am crossing a ditch or otherwise have precarious footing, and have lost shells that fell from the gun.
