Had a PGR mission this morning, Patriot Guard Riders. We escorted a Viet Nam veteran to his final rest, and formed a flag line for the service. After the service I wandered around on my Harley and "just happened" to go by a pawn shop, and stopped. They have a 16 ga Hunter Arms Fulton, real clean, mirror bores, 20%(?) case colors, no cracks etc in the wood. All #'s match, top lever is just left of center but bbls are tight even with the forend off. The bbls have a good ring to them, don't know how it is choked. I was on 2 wheels so I didn't try to buy it right then. They are asking $499 for it, is that about right, or what's y'all's opinions? Thanks, Curtis

I'd say it was a little high. I recently sold a 20 that was a 95% original gun for 850.00 I bought it as a bargain for 500.00

Curtis, The value of a gun like this is changing fairly rapidly, in my observations. I bought a 20g Fulton in about 85% or more condition last fall for $500 and after checking around, I thought it was quite a good buy. I have yet to see on since for that price, let alone that condition. But I have to admit to missing out on Dick's gun.
I do think $500 seems a bit high for the condition you describe, but evidently the sellers think otherwise. Whether or not they sell at the $1000-1500 I've seen them advertised at, I can't say. But, I will say I'd not pay that much for one today.

I agree that prices are going kinda crazy lately. I had called them back and offered to drive back over there and take it for $400 "out the door" price. They said no, but wouldn't give me a counter-offer. If I get around to it in a few days, I may go back and see what we can do. Thanks for your opinions, Curtis

I don't think it's a bad buy at $500; just not a real bargain. But you don't see all that many 16ga Fultons. If you want it and can get them down $50, I'd say go for it.
And by the way, this retired soldier salutes you and your fellow Patriot Guard Riders. Here in Iowa, we are "blessed" with the scumbags sent north by the good Rev Phelps down in KS, every time one of our young men or women comes home to rest from Iraq or Afghanistan. We now have a law that keeps them a specified distance from the actual funeral, but the Patriot Guard is always there--turning their backs on these vermin--to help shield grieving family and friends. You do honor to your country.

As a Kansan who is embarrassed by Phelps and his band of idiots, I second Larry's thanks.

I may go back over there again, after me and them both have had a chance to think it over. I also had one guy email me and suggest $350 tops, I really like his price! They also had an Ithaca (Ithicky?) M37 16 ga with a poly choke on it, maybe they'd be easier to deal with on two? What I do with the PGR is to honor those who have served or are serving now. I didn't ever join the service when I was a young man, a decision I deeply regret now days. Didn't do anything dishonorable to stay out, just didn't join and was never drafted. The regret seems even stronger now that my youngest son is in the Army, but I'm awful proud of him and I told him so. May God bless all of our veterans, and an humble Thank You from me. Thanks for the comments about the Fulton too. Curtis
