The one I have is a Pachmayr with velcro. Nicely made.

Stan, do you use the lace or the velcro? And if one, have you tried the other and why did you go with the style you use?

I have always used the lace-on, preferring to leave the pad on there semi-permanently. And, I must admit to having a bit of distaste for velcro on a nice classic double, effective as it is. But, I am beginning to have second thoughts about all that. One of my guns that has carried a lace-on for the longest is beginning to show a line of demarcation where the stock color changes slightly. I believe it to be from the leather blocking sunlight completely, and the bleaching effects of it. So, my next ones will be velcro so that I can more easily remove it after use, or for long term inactivity. Maybe I can ignore those bad vibes about velcro. Here's a few wearing the KK pads:

Stan, that's interesting. I think I like the look of the lace up better but I have seen a few stocks that had pads left on too long. Wonder if I could stay disciplined and remove it regularly?

I have a couple of the pads that Mark has linked in the last post. They look good with a "hand-made" aura and work well. The small sized one my lil' Belgian OU looks like it was made for the gun.

I have seen the Leatherman pads at the Fall Classic several years, where he comes as a vendor. I agree they are very nice looking. I just had a little concern about the buckle. His large size will fit a little larger butt than any of the others, however.

The reason I prefer the Galco because is the Velcro flap allows instant removal or installation. For instance, I shoot skeet from low gun at all stations. Usually have a Galco pad on but I remove it for station eight where a gun has to be mounted extremely fast from low gun. Here a shorter stock is desirable for me.

I use the Leather Man slip on pads. I have used and still keep a couple Galco models as well. My "go to pad" is the Leather Man for sure. My main usage is to increase the LOP, but there is some recoil reduction as well.

When I first saw/purchased the pads at the Southern a few years ago I was impressed with the looks/feel/fit for my too short LOP Carr Bros. I have tried most avail. on the market and other than Galco I have returned or sold off all but the Leatherman ones. For a slight up charge you can have your initials put on the pad. Mine have all come with two spacers. I sometimes use the pad w/o any spacer for the slight increase in LOP and/or to protect the butt of the stock. I have not had any issues with the buckles and prefer it to the velcro.

I will probably have some made up with the grand kids and great grands initials so they can "grow the gun" as they get bigger.

If anyone is interested have a Galco Leather Recoil pad, Medium, 5 3/8" long, 1 1/2" wide. Excellent condition with a few surface scratches nothing into the leather. $50.00 including shipping.
