I have a few guns that the LOP is a bit short. I like them with the original butt plate so don't want to mess with that. Looking for recommendations on good slip-on leather pads. Not only the brand you like, but why? What is it that makes you like that particular kind?

The pads made by Galco are hard to beat. Very well made of what appears to be latigo leather and attaches with a Velcro flap. Adds about 3/4" to LOP. Somewhat pricy but worth it IMO. I notice Orvis also sells an identical pad at about the same rice and have them in stock. I own half dozen of them in various sizes and use them a lot in summer when wearing only a shirt. They also soften recoil, a result of the pad inside it and also the larger surface area it presents to the shoulder.

I have the leather Galco as well and like it. Fits well and covers a lot of the stock for protection in the field.

I have the leather Galco as well and like it. Fits well and covers a lot of the stock. Protects the rear of the stock and checkered butts. You can also add length to the inside if needed.

Ask Doug what he uses. He brought two along with him for pheasant hunting and he let me use one on my Fox. VERY nice pads. Comfortable, easy to put on/take off, protects your butt plate, and you can add a filler. I was kind of hoping he would forget one here but alas his mind is waaaaay too sharp.
Practice safe eating. Always use a condiment.

I have Galco and gamekeepers (Galazans)
both work very well-
I think the Galco is a nicer looking/better made pad, therefore they are a bit more expensive. The real trouble is they are harder to find
if you cannot find one in the size you need, the Gamekeepers are perfectly functional and are still a nice looking pad

Patrick, did you get yours in Canada or order it up from the US?

I have always used Kick Killer leather pads to increase LOP. They are made in four sizes, $35/ea., available as lace-on or w/Velcro, two different color leather available, and try as I may I have never been able to wear one out. www.kick-killer-recoil-pads.comSRH

Jim,
Be careful, whichever brand you try, to get the appropriate size. Galco doesn't make one that will fit a butt over 5" top to bottom. Both Kick Killer and Galazan's will fit up to 5 1/8".
I have a couple doubles that I can barely squeeze the 5 1/8" pad over. SRH
