Maximum exploitation of the brand name is not objectionable. If the market accepts it, it is fine by me. A damascus knife made in India selling TEN times its regular price simply because it bears the hallowed brand, is OK.
But... it inevitably leads to questions regarding pricing policy, therefore value, on the main item.
As for the "perfected" design etc, especially in regards to the Over Under, there are valid indicators, ie success in target shooting, which contradict it.
Let us not forget that the top two makers now belong to conglomerates specialising in luxury goods, with all that this implies.
Personally I do not accept that a SXS with no development costs, exceeds the price of a specially blue printed Ferrari V12 engine which went through costly RECENT testing and development. Credulity has its limits.
