Dave, I'm moderately annoyed...at myself for not bow hunting lately. My last deer with a bow was at least 8 years ago, not much larger than yours. Fun times.

Dave, congratulations on part one of your Grand Slam, and good luck with the rest of it. Sounds like you and your family will be eating a lot of venison.
I cut the neck at home to facilitate draining the blood out of the carcass and hang the deer upside down to get as much blood as possible out of the hindquarters and tenderloins.

Dave,
Congratulations for that perfect shot on your nice upstate NY buck.
Yep, check off Number 1, prepare for Number 2.

Well since you wandered off topic I will jump right in and post my son's first ever archery buck taken earlier tonight. He just turned 13 and really put a lot of time and effort into not only his hunting, but getting good enough with his bow to make a killing shot. CHAZ

Hoof, you gotta be a proud Daddy! I can see for myself you have a proud son. Do something with those horns. He'll remember that buck the rest of his life and a mount of some sort might keep him honest when the braggin' starts?...Geo

Going price for a head mount around here. I don't know who is more proud, he or I. CHAZ

Congratulations Dave! Sadly bow hunting is banned in the UK, and before you all jump on the 'heavy handed' UK weapons laws, it is all down to AH's who shot swans which then swam around in the public parks with bolts through their necks! As I said , AH's. We have to resort to nitro rifles, black powder doesn't make the grade for MV. I suspect that a majority of UK hunters wouldn't have the patience nor field craft to bow hunt anyway! It all seams a race to shoot at longer distances nowadays, although the USA doesn't seem immune from that particular affliction!
