The best method of annealing I've encountered is to dip the first 1/4 inch or so of the case into a pot of molten lead and hold it until the case base gets as warm as you care to hold. Allow to air cool for dead soft or drop in cool water to keep a bit of spring. Make sure ALL cases are absolutely dry. You don't want any steam induced splatter of molten lead. Also, you may want to consider that holding a case barehanded over molten lead is not the safest thing you will ever do, or so it would seem. I've done thousands of handgun and rifle cartridges and "narry" a single burn; your results may vary.
