This post is typical of those posts where one can really learn something and the great pictures help the learning a lot. Thanks to all.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Here are a few more pics. The black Decelerator pad was added by someone before me, so I am not sure what the original would have looked like.

I had a 16ga that fell in between the ones shown....well made gun....mine had a pistol grip and horn butt plate....the only Pieper/Bayard markings on the gun was the knight on horseback stamped on the side of one of the lumps.....

There is no axle for the tumbler. Anyone know what the action looks like? It seems to be something other than an Anson-Deeley system.

I'm not familiar with that style of top bolt either. Appears the top lever is mounted to the bolt itself rather than the gun's frame. I assume the bolt must be dovetailed into the top of the frame??

Sorry, I just today picked up the gun in the photo i posted from member here and part time smith CJO. Yes, these are not Anson & Deely boxlocks. However, I am not good at explaining the difference. confused

I meant to get a brief and clear description from CJO. Forgot! blush

Will get one and post.

Is that cross bolt through the stock in the originally pictured gun original or a later repair?

Good afternoon Jim. The cross bolt through the stock is original. Other similar Bayard models like this one have it as well.
