Since we're talking about knowledge for knowledge sake, I thought I would mention that on several of the other shooting sites I frequent, Cast Boolits and ShotgunWorld.com, there are frequent discussions about the use of round balls. These discussions center around the relationship of bore diameter to wad ID and OD and the various combinations of hard or soft fibre or card wads both in and out of the plastic wad.
Enough so that I'm tempted to buy some of these round balls and try them out in an older cylinder bored Bay State brand single I have around the house.
The back half of my property is in flood plain and has ample mud banks to test the hole making properties of round balls. Eventually, I'll get around to it.
